Biography
Kai Chen Cheng, a versatile flutist and esteemed educator, has made her mark both on stage as a soloist and in the classroom. With a rich background in chamber music, she has imparted her knowledge at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and the Taiwan National Taitung University, shaping the talents of individual students and ensembles. As a respected member of the Long Island Conservatory faculty and a previous Music Director for the LISMA International Music Competition, her influence extends through the New York area. Her artistry has earned her a finalist spot in the 2023 American Prize and recognition in numerous other competitions.
Beyond her teaching accolades, Ms. Cheng is a co-founder of Project 23.6°N, a piano trio dedicated to celebrating and sharing Classical Taiwanese Music. She's graced international stages, from Carnegie Hall to China's National Centre for the Performing Arts, and participated in prestigious festivals like the Lake George Music Festival. With her advanced studies as a Doctoral Candidate under Carol Wincenc at Stony Brook University, she continues to evolve, captivating audiences with her performances and enriching the music community with her mentorship.
