Biography
Tengyue Zhang, with over a decade of teaching experience and a lifelong dedication to piano, enriches her academic pursuits with a wealth of expertise. Her commitment to music education shines through her roles as a teaching assistant at the Mannes School of Music and as an adjunct professor at Hofstra University. Zhang's exceptional teaching ability is evidenced by her students' consistent outstanding results in ABRSM and NYSSMA examinations, underscoring her solid guidance and impact on their musical development.

As a music theorist, Zhang delves into the intricacies of 20th- and 21st-century music, particularly exploring the interplay between Western and Chinese musical traditions. Graduating with distinction from the Mannes School of Music at The New School with an M.M. in music theory in 2023 and a B.M. in composition in 2021, she honed her skills under the mentorship of esteemed professors like Lynne Rogers, Robert Cuckson, and Huang Ruo.

Zhang's musical journey is enriched by immersive experiences, including studying Kunqu and Pipa with Weidong Zhang in Beijing. Her deep-rooted commitment to music education is evident throughout her career, from her formative years in piano studies to her current roles as an educator. At Mannes, she shares her profound knowledge and passion for music theory, refining her pedagogical skills and nurturing the academic growth of her students. Expanding her teaching career to Hofstra University, Zhang instructs courses in music theory and musicianship, enriching the educational landscape with her expertise and dedication.
